Multiverse - changing the < virtual > world

Online Gaming Solutions

Multiverse provides a complete platform for creating Massively Multiplayer Online Games. Our technology enables development teams to create high-quality, unique, and engaging virtual worlds for less money and in less time than ever before.

FEATURES

The Multiverse World Browser, our client application, runs on Windows XP and Vista and includes a state-of-the-art 3D engine that supports "next-gen" rendering features, such as normal and specular maps. It is specifically designed to display large dynamic scenes that are common in MMOGs. Key features include:

  • Paging scene manager, that enables large detailed terrain while minimizing graphics load
  • Full shader APIs to implement a wide variety of visual effects
  • Ability to set the skybox via scripts
  • Realistic tree rendering through integration of SpeedTree RT
  • Support for multiple real-time lights such as ambient, directional, and point light sources
  • Particle effects, terrain decals, and texture modulative shadows
  • Client animation system that avoids animation artifacts due to network latency.
  • Extensive Python scripting API that provides programmatic access to all features of the client, world simulation, and 3D scene
  • Scriptable character creation framework
  • Hardware cursor support to provide immediate feedback on mouse movements, independent of frame rate.

The Multiverse servers have a flexible plug-in server architecture. In fact, all pre-packaged server functionality (geography plug-in, object manager plug-in, animation plug-in, and so on) is built on this plug-in architecture. The server allows geography to be distributed among multiple server systems with the appearance of a seamless world to the player. This seamless support is based on a proprietary messaging system, which enables developers to easily create distributed plug-ins without having to navigate complicated networking and threading issues. Multiverse servers are modular and highly scalable.

The servers include MARS (Multiverse Agnostic Rules System) open-source gameplay plug-ins, that you can optionally use, build on, or ignore at your discretion. The MARS plug-ins include:

  • Combat plug-in
  • Quest plug-in
  • Inventory system
  • Secure trading system

The Multiverse Tools Suite includes:

  • Art pipeline conversion tools to convert from popular modeling tools (3ds Max, Maya, SketchUp, Blender, and so on).
  • Model Viewer to display imported 3D models and animations.
  • Terrain Generator to create and import world terrain.
  • World Editor to place static models in world, create vegetation, set world properties, and so on.

LICENSE OPTIONS

Multiverse offers the following types of licenses for online games:

  • Standard: the basic license where you pay Multiverse 10% of revenue you collect, whether from subscription fees, in-world item sales, dynamic advertising, or any other source. Users find your world through the Multiverse Network Nexus (main user login screen) that lists all worlds in the Multiverse Network.
  • Premium: Multiverse provides you a customized World Browser client with your custom desktop icon and login page for consumers (players).
  • Exclusive: Same as premium, but by default users cannot click through to the Nexus; conversely, your world is also not available through the Nexus.
  • Off-Network: Multiverse provides you a custom installation of the master server that you operate. Your world is not on the Multiverse Network; your customer database is totally separate from the Multiverse master database.
