USING THE CLIENT IN DEMO WORLD

Using the Multiverse Client in Demo World

The Multiverse client has some basic default behavior in Demo World. This document describes how to use the client to navigate in the game world and perform some other basic actions.

Camera movement

Right-click and drag to look around and change the direction your character is facing.
Left-click and drag to look around without changing the direction your character is facing.
Use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out. If you zoom all the way in, you will be in "first person" mode: you won't see your own avatar.

Hotkeys

Use the following keys to move and orient your character in the gameworld.

w or ↑ (up arrow)	Forward
s or ↓ (up arrow)	Backward
a or ← (up arrow)	Turn left
d or → (up arrow)	Turn right
q	Sidestep left
e	Sidestep right
ctrl-h	Display collision volumes (first time displays all CVs, second time only static CVs,third time to toggle off.)
n	Display current frame rate (frames per second--fps)

Commands

The Demo World implements a small subset of client commands. Some of these commands are for development and debugging, and would not normally be used in a game.

Some commands are implemented by the icons displayed at the bottom of the screen: mouse over each icon to display a tool tip. Click the button to execute the command.

A few other commands are implented as "slash commands." Type "/" (slash) before each command.

/fps: display frames per second (FPS) information.
/goto spawn: return avatar to location at client startup.
/loc: display player location (x, y, z)
/say string: speak the string argument. This is the same as pressing [Enter].
/quit: exit the client.
/who: display who is currently logged in to the Demo World.
